Review: 2009 Hume Lakers Retreat

Posted on 11 November 2009 by Jon Lokhorst

Over 150 guests gathered for the Hume Lakers Retreat last weekend, an increase of 25% over last year’s retreat.  “While many Hume Lakers have been friends of the ministry for decades, we also had several first-time guests,” said Jon Lokhorst, Hume’s Development Director.  “This is a great weekend to learn more about the ministry.  It’s a board meeting weekend, so guests have the opportunity to interact with Hume’s leadership at meals and meetings.”

The speaker for the weekend was Brad Bell from The Well Community Church in Fresno, who delivered strong challenges from God’s Word.  Ron Rogalski from Calvary Church of Santa Ana led in enthusiastic worship at each meeting.  Saturday morning’s session included a ministry update from Executive Director Bob Phillips.

In addition, guests enjoyed great food, fellowship, activities and the second annual Wii Bowling Tournament.  This year’s champions were Kip and Wendy Sykes from Fullerton, who won by the narrow margin of one pin.
