Overview

Wildwood is Hume Lake's discipleship camp for students who wish to push themselves beyond the familiar into a world of exceptional devotion to God. Wildwood's philosophy of stripping away the layers of falsehood and distraction is evidenced in daily interactions and candid discussions about student's lives, struggles, and answering God's call for deeper devotion to Him. Set in the back forests of Hume's property, Wildwood emphasizes overcoming obstacles and learning to discipline oneself in response to the challenges of life.

2009 Theme

We live in a world of apathy where action takes a back seat to good ideas. Jesus makes it clear that believing in him also means lifting up our cross and living what we preach. This summer at Wildwood, campers will be challenged to engage in a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior while developing and sharpening the skills necessary to reach their world for Christ. While continuing to strive for Honesty, Purity and Integrity Wildwood campers will focus on a strong missions theme centered on spiritual development and servant leadership while challenging and equipping students to make an impact in their world for God. Practical teaching will encourage campers to not only a global mission’s focus, but one that is centered on the harvest at hand and how they can be apart of it.

Rich Ferreira
Rich Ferreira is the current director of the Joshua Wilderness Institute as well as Wildwood leadership camps. A Biola graduate with a degree in Education and a Masters from Talbot Theological seminary, Rich is known for clearly teaching the Word of God as well as entertaining whoever will listen with endless absurd stories from all the past Joshua and Wildwood staff and kids lives.

Hey everyone! My name is Bryan Valko and I will be leading worship for Wildwood this summer. I just wrapped up the 2009 year of Joshua Wilderness Institute and look forward to working my first summer at Hume. You can find me hanging out by the pool, kicking around a soccer ball, or just spending time with people. I look forward to joining the Wildwood staff and seeing how God work’s in students lives this summer!

Registration Forms

Over the last couple of years, the State of California has been working to develop a set of laws and regulations which will govern all organized camps in California. As one of the largest organized camps in the state, Hume has been working closely with the committees responsible for the development of these new policies. Most of the new policies are internal, meaning that Hume will make some changes, but you will not see the changes or be significantly affected by them. However, there are other policies which will directly affect you and your students, and will require action from you, the churches. The following information is meant to give you a clear understanding of the new regulations, how they will affect your students and staff, as well as what you will need to do as a church to be in compliance as you arrive and register for camp.
