Hume Lake Christian Camps - Week In Review

Happy Tuesday!

Tomorrow starts the most important conference of our year. It is a conference of mostly single, college-age young people, but they range up into the 60's and 70's. (That's ages, not temperatures.) In anticipation, some of the conferees are already arriving. But since the program doesn't start until tomorrow, we put them to work (we don't do this with every conference, so please don't panic).

They don't get the finest china or crystal, but we do pray for them months before they arrive. They come from different states, and foreign countries, like New Zealand and Texas. The picture of the dry erase board is in our main kitchen, so that our food service staff will pray for them and recognize them when they arrive. We provide speakers, and worship, and great meals.

They get a free t-shirt (and more!) just for coming. The only cost to them is that they have to give us their entire summer! And still they come...nearly 400 of them before the conference is over! They are our summer staff and without them, we would not be able to run camp. There is a ton of work being done, and there is a ton of work to do. Tomorrow begins our Summer Staff Orientation, and Sunday is the official beginning of Hume Lake's Summer 2007!

(I think we are going to need more prayer boards.)

Kept,
