Happy Monday!
We are just beginning Week 6, and we have completed 3 full weeks of camps down in San Diego (over 1,500 campers).
We divide the campers into two large teams: Ingimar (in blue) and Thorlak (in green). Fashion is everything. They compete in lots of crazy recreation. If you look closely at the thirsty young man with the cup on his head, you'll notice a green armband, while the girl on the right has on a red armband. Green is for counselor's, and red is for campers. You can see the rewards of being a counselor.
Then one guy without all the color, no face paint, no horns, even his shirt isn't torn! What's up with that? His name is PJ Lewis, and he was the speaker for this particular week. On Tuesday night PJ presented a very clear message of the Gospel. During his presentation I watched several campers acting quite distracted, messing around, and giggling. But when PJ wrapped up by saying, "If you would like to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then stand up right now," one of the campers who was messing around quickly rose to his feet, with at least 20 others. As everyone else was dismissed, the counselors and youth pastors sat down with their students and began to talk and pray with them.
It is all about colors; but the best combination of colors is when the green armbands reach out for the red armbands. Colors or not, this is happening here all summer long!
Thank you for your part in this ministry,
