New Year’s Family Camp

Overview

Leaving the world behind and meeting in a melee of adventures and excitement, Hume Lake family camps give you and your loved ones plenty of great opportunities to experience the joy God intended for each family. Filled with creative recreation and hilarious games, 'fun' is the word for the weekend as speaker messages and family study times develop a foundation of learning and spiritual growth. Christ calls us family and shows us the importance of family in calling God 'Father.' In truth, family is the key to Christian survival in a world that struggles to eradicate our moral and ethical foundations. What better place to create family traditions than at Hume Lake Christian Camps?

2012 New Year's Family CampDec 30 - Jan 1, 2013
Topic: Family Worth Fighting For
  • Speaker: Kirk Cameron

Kirk Cameron is best known as the lovable teenager Mike Seaver, from the TV series Growing Pains, and as "Buck" Williams from the Left Behind movies. He also starred in the recent movie Fireproof. Much more significant than his acting career is his dedication to following Christ. Kirk produces and co-hosts a new television program called The Way of the Master, a spiritually based, reality TV program.

  • Speaker: Chelsea Cameron

Chelsea is best known for her role "Kate" in the television series Growing Pains. She and Kirk Cameron fell in love and married in 1991. They now have six children. The Camerons also founded Camp Firefly, a once in a lifetime experience for terminally ill children and their families. Although her professional career had taken off, Chelsea felt it more important to take on her greatest role in life as a wife and mother and share her real life experiences with other women.

  • Music: Faith First

Faith First, a Christian contemporary singing group, began their combined ministry in 1994. Although the quartet wasn't formed until they were all enrolled at Pacific Union College (PUC) in Northern California, they all began their musical outreach in their local churches and their Christian high school. Over the years they have recorded 4 CDs and a DVD, with their most recent CD featuring all original songs from the group. With Andrea, Marc, Scott and Shani each having growing families of their own, recent years have seen less travel and more time invested in their local churches and their families. But they still love to keep their eyes open for those special opportunities that come along to bless audiences with the sound that thousands have come to know and love.

About Hume

People

Hume Lake exists to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Hume’s very mission statement expresses our desire that each person coming into contact with this ministry will learn of the love and power of a life lived in Christ. We believe that in this message lies the only hope for a world desperately searching for something more. The Ministry of Hume Lake Christian Camps is committed to reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.

Programs

As a Para-church organization, Hume seeks to serve the local church. Hume’s programs offer a Christian response to today’s culture through recreation, video, music, onstage speakers and presentations, which all work to introduce people to the Lord Jesus Christ in a way that is unexpectedly refreshing. The Hume environment is designed to minister to new believers while also encouraging those who are saved to pursue God in a new and deeper way.

Facilities

Nestled in the Sequoia National Forest, 365 acres of God’s creation provides the perfect backdrop for a life changing experience. While our facilities include multiple chapels, dining halls, pools, recreating lawns, ropes courses and deluxe accommodations; most important are the majestic setting and solitude where you can hear God speak to you. Hume’s facilities have been designed to provide everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable retreat experience.

Transformation

True life-transformation requires more than a fun mountaintop experience. Simply serving the local church by sharing the Gospel isn’t enough. We understand that true transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit. It’s our role to diligently and prayerfully prepare our staff, programs and facilities and then depend on God to work in the hearts of his people.
