Throughout each week this summer, we challenged students to proclaim God’s truth in an ungodly culture. On one Monday night, after our speaker shared the gospel, there was a student who was so moved and convicted by the Lord’s Spirit, that he knew he needed to fully surrender his life to the Lord. He confessed to his counselor that he had not been living a life that was pleasing the Lord, and he wanted his life to change that night and be fully surrendered to the Lord.
He then walked his counselor and youth pastor back to his dorm room, and turned in things that he had with him at camp that he shouldn’t have brought. He knew that there would be consequences for confessing to things he had done, but he also understood that this is what he needed to do if he truly wanted Jesus to be the Lord of his life.
As the week went on, this student began to proclaim God’s truth to all his friends at camp, and share the love of Jesus with them in a way that no one else could. By the end of the week, he had challenged and encouraged so many other students to turn from their sin, and surrender to the Lord. It is exciting to think of the impact this student and so many more will have in their communities as they head home from camp this summer and share the truth of the gospel with those around them.
The Lord has greatly blessed the ministry of Hume San Diego these past 10 years, and this summer we had the opportunity to run six weeks of camp and to share the gospel with over 3,500 people. We look forward to seeing what the Lord has planned for the next 10 years.
