This literally changed my life. I have this saved on my Ipod and computer, I’ve listened to it more than ten times and every time it effects me. Megan truly speaks God’s word and is able to make it interesting, applicable and challenging. Seeking God with all I am was something I had never thought about before. My life was altered dramatically forever when I heard this seminar at Hume.

I loved going to Hume and this was my 1st time ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t want to leave because Hume is such an amazing place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John, Red, Vanessa, Reveal, the Lead Leaders, the Church Leaders, the Main Pastor, the Recreation Dudes, and everyone was just AMAZING and AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to come back next year for more fun and worship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am listening to Reveal right now. I miss EVERYONE. I hope that everyone had as much fun as I did. I LOVE you all.

This was an amazing week.I have learned so much from the experience and i’m finding that I have been a christian my whole life and I wasnt putting in to practice what I had learned.I have gone through life wearing this mask of always being happy when i wasn’t and always doing the right thing so I could feel worthy but now i’m finding whatever I do God is the only answer and my masks will start coming off slowly and God will be sitting at number one from now on nomatter what it takes to start each day knowing it was always Gods day and I am just a part of it.

When I was in Highschool we were swimming in the cove (2000-2004) and this couple started freaking out because she had dropped her 5000 wedding ring… Someone should get out there with a metal detector and find some treasures.

John, love to hear you still out there preachin and teachin. I had the privilege to have God teach me thru you at Crossroads in Camarillo some time back. I drifted away from God for a bit, but He never left me. Now I’m a youth pastor here in Texas, and the foundational knowledge of God that was laid for me as a teenager has been invaluable now as a minister, husband and father.

Well who would have thought that the Director of the Whitter Area Baptist Fellowship High School Rock Climbing and Backpacking ministry would become the Director of Hume Lake, way to go old friend. This is Pastor Jim Dahl, letting you know that we are praying for you and excited about your leading the Hume ministry.
We have been in Redding for the last 22 years and enjoy God’s amazing beauty here in the northstate. With 5 grandkids life is full and fun. Great family picture, good thing the kids have a cute mom. Karen and I just celebrated our 42nd anniversary, yes I married “up” too. Hope to visit Hume this summer. Know we are praying for you! Bless you old friend!

Now that the lake is drained completely forthe 2nd time (the 1st being in the 1980′s when they DESTROYED a great brown trout fishery in the lake), I would hope that some serious though be taken to dredging the lake, getting rid of those pesky sacramento perch, and stocking the lake with some quality trout (brown, rainbow, etc.)

If anyone finds a Hoover High School Men’s class ring from 1974 with the initials KDW by the Rock, we’d love to get it back, before we we’re married my husband and given it to me to wear as his girlfriend and I lost it diving off the rock, we got married at Hume in 1977 so he hadn’t had his ring very long before I lost it, i felt terrible.

My first summer camp retreat was at Hume Lake in 1954. At that time Hume Lake was just a small pond in the area where the boat dock is currently located. The lake had been drained for dam repairs. A few of us walked all the way to the dam on the lake bed. At that time the vegetation was much taller.

I think the last time that the dam was completely drained was around 1985 and was for several months, including the summer. Does anyone know why it was drained that year?

Mingo! I dropped my graduation ring in the lake when I was lifeguarding in 2000 and have always wanted to find it when they drain the lake, but never have. Maybe we’ll both get lucky!

Summer 1984 was the last time I remember seeing the lake completely drained…that was my first year as a camper at Meadow Ranch. Anyone else remember that? Was that for a similar type of repair to the Dam?
