Spiritual Emphasis
Overview
|
The Hume Lake Spiritual Emphasis program is a time set aside for students, teachers and counselors to experience the love of Jesus Christ and grow closer to Him. Group activities, unique challenges, and times of worship break students out of their normal routines and allow them to hear God's word with a clear mind and a humble attitude. Each element of the program is designed to reinforce our core values. Evening meetings and small group time provide solid biblical teaching and allow students to digest and wrestle with the truth in a supportive environment. Ample free time lets kids be kids and enjoy the many adventures Hume Lake has to offer. As your ministry partner we want to help you invest in the spiritual health of your students throughout the year. Each school will return home with a packet containing ideas for chapels or spiritual emphasis weeks based on your time at camp. We'll also send a Hume speaker to your school at some point in the year to follow-up on your camp experience. |

Speaker:Jason Wigand
Jason Wigand is the Pastor to Students at Redwood Chapel in Castro Valley, CA where he has been pastoring for the last three of his twelve years in youth ministry. Jason blends humor, imagery, personal experience, and the foundation of God’s Word to show how walking with Jesus is far superior to drowning in religion. One of Jason’s deepest passions is young men’s discipleship in which boys are turned into Godly men who lead and love God’s people.

Star Talk

Students will get a look at the galaxy we live in by an expert who can explain constellations and help map out the sky. We will look at it also from a spiritual perspective as we are reminded to how big God is.
Leadership Seminar

This year we will be presenting the Pointman Leadership seminar. The Pointman Leadership seminar’s mission is to provide ethics training in character-based, principled leadership. This seminar has been presented to leaders all over the world.
What does it mean to be a disciple?

The word “Talmidim” translates in Hebrew to mean “disciple”. A talmidim of the rabbi would seek with his whole heart to know everything about his Rabbi. His life would mimic that of his Rabbi. In that same way we need to follow Christ. This seminar will examine what it means and looks like to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Group Initiatives

We will be challenging the students with fun group building exercises that will grow them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

About Hume
People
Hume Lake exists to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Hume’s very mission statement expresses our desire that each person coming into contact with this ministry will learn of the love and power of a life lived in Christ. We believe that in this message lies the only hope for a world desperately searching for something more. The Ministry of Hume Lake Christian Camps is committed to reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.
Programs
As a Para-church organization, Hume seeks to serve the local church. Hume’s programs offer a Christian response to today’s culture through recreation, video, music, onstage speakers and presentations, which all work to introduce people to the Lord Jesus Christ in a way that is unexpectedly refreshing. The Hume environment is designed to minister to new believers while also encouraging those who are saved to pursue God in a new and deeper way.
Facilities
Nestled in the Sequoia National Forest, 365 acres of God’s creation provides the perfect backdrop for a life changing experience. While our facilities include multiple chapels, dining halls, pools, recreating lawns, ropes courses and deluxe accommodations; most important are the majestic setting and solitude where you can hear God speak to you. Hume’s facilities have been designed to provide everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable retreat experience.
Transformation
True life-transformation requires more than a fun mountaintop experience. Simply serving the local church by sharing the Gospel isn’t enough. We understand that true transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit. It’s our role to diligently and prayerfully prepare our staff, programs and facilities and then depend on God to work in the hearts of his people.
