Hume Hawaii
Overview
Hume Hawaii is a camp for Hawaiian youth grades 7-12 that blends together an epic camp experience with one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Rock solid teaching and worship, high-energy recreation, food, free-time and friends create memories that last and will leave an impression that won't fade.
For over 60 years we've partnered with the local church to run camps that reach young people for Christ.
Let us take care of the details so you can focus on your kids.
We love camp. We know it works. It's what we've been called to do. Come see lives changed at Hume Hawaii!

Clear Gospel Message

The gospel isn’t merely one ingredient in our programming mix.
It’s the reason for everything we do.
Speakers at Hume Hawaii know teenagers as well as their Bibles. They unwrap and animate God’s truth in ways that connect with your students.
Your group will hear the gospel of Jesus in chapels and talks, then wrestle with it in seminars, breakouts, and all those unscripted moments between you and your students that a Hume camping experience delivers.
Dynamic Worship

Indoor worship, outdoor worship, corporate worship, devotional worship.
Hume Hawaii nurtures the attitude of worship from sunrise to sunset. Just step out of your cabin, and you can’t help but acknowledge God here in what has been called the most beautiful places in the world.
Personal quiet times, small-group prayer, our Dawn Patrol sunrise worship—you and your students have plenty of options for exalting the Lord. For listening to him, too.
And our musicians are selected for their giftedness in bringing students into the presence of the Lord.
Location & Facilities

The idea of retreat is key.
Removing ourselves from busy schedules and the our normal day to day events, to a well kept, beautiful location removes all the distractions of the city and allows campers (and counselors!) the chance to enjoy God’s creation.
We are currently running camps at YMCA Camp Erdman on the island of Oahu.
Recreation

For an hour a day, we let kids be kids. We call it recreation.
The high-energy, innovative games at Hume Hawaii give campers an outlet for their energy, while providing counselors a chance to encourage team-building and leadership skills.
While all campers receive a free "rec" shirt, only the winning team gets the coveted “Champion” shirt.

Your Ministry

Let us agree on one thing: you—not us or any other ministry resource provider—know your youth group best.
We run camp in order to give you freedom to do what you do best—relate to your students, listen, offer guidance, love. To that end, we want to free you up from the myriad details required for a successful, memorable camping experience—the programming, lodging, meals, recreation, speakers, music. You do enough of that anyway.
So this time, let us do the footwork while you minister to your students.
After all, when Jesus left this planet, he left behind a church, not a camp.
Theme
The theme is a creative and practical link between the fun, entertaining aspects of camp and our presentation of the gospel.
While we believe that the theme is a critical part of the camp experience, it is our desire that by the end of the week it becomes background to the biblical truths taught throughout the week.
The opener, the daily videos, and the recreation team names, are some of the programming elements we use to capture campers attention, win their trust, and direct their focus to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

2012 Theme Title: All In
All In explores the lives of Saul and David, examining what it takes to be a person "after God's own heart," regardless of the circumstances.
Too often we selfishly seek approval, wisdom, and victory without first seeking the will of God. All In explores how David managed to be called a "man after God's own heart" despite his human failings, and how Saul lost God's blessings and succumbed to his pride, jealousy, and fear. Through this theme, we will learn to cultivate a passion to seek God, emulate His character, and strive to be men and women after God's own heart.
Theme Verse: Psalms 40:8
I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
