Junior High Summer Camp: Meadow Ranch


“To the Meadow!!” Meadow Ranch is a phenomenal place for junior high (6th-8th grade) students to get away from the everyday distractions and into the quietness the Meadow has to offer and learn more about who God is. From outdoor activities, energetic recreation, silly skits and suspenseful night games, to exceptional speakers, inspiring dramas and impactful worship, your time at Hume will make you want to come back for more!   • Speaker: Ron Merrell

    Ron Merrell has been in ministry for 16 years and is the Teaching Pastor at Heights Church in Prescott, AZ. He fuses a love for people who feel broken and lost with his background in both ministry and stand-up comedy to uncompromisingly communicate the Bible. He's married to his best friend, Anna, and has two sons, Braddock and Brody. He's a contributor to CollegeMinistry.com, co-author of Random Thoughts, and a frequent camp speaker. His first comedy album, Laughitated, is due out on iTunes later this year. He's sure both of his fans will buy it.

2014 Meadow Ranch Week 2June 15-21, 2014
  • Speaker: Chris Brown

    Chris Brown is one of the Senior Pastors at North Coast Church in Vista, California and one of the two Teaching Pastors. Along with being on the vision casting team, and providing directional leadership for the church, he also co-teaches a preaching course at Bethel Seminary. Chris loves bringing the Bible to life with his gifts as a communicator and storyteller, but most evident in his teaching is his passion for sharing a real and authentic journey with Jesus. Chris and his wife Amy have three children, two beautiful daughters, Sayla and Karis, and a crazy son named Barak. They plan as a family to stay involved in teaching, ministries, and fishing for as long as humanly possible.

  • Speaker: PJ Lewis

    After growing up in Northern California, PJ met his wife, Sheri, while earning a degree in Counseling and Bible at Christian Heritage College in El Cajon. Married in 1988, PJ and Sheri have been serving together for over 20 years in the areas of shepherding, teaching, counseling, and discipleship for both youth and adult ministries in the San Diego area, Carson City, Nevada, and Fresno. PJ enjoys playing games, hiking, exploring new places, and especially loves spending time with his wife.

    Phil Payne and his wife, Elizabeth have worked for International Teams since 1998. They lived in Quito, Ecuador from 1999 until fall of 2010 when they moved up to Southern California. Phil continues to work for International Teams/Youth World from North America while his wife attends Talbot Seminary.

  • Speaker: Matt Furby

    Matt Furby started out as a camper in Meadow Ranch when he was in Jr. High. Today, he is the Jr. High pastor at The Grove Community Church in Riverside, CA. He has been serving in youth ministry for nine years, and is passionate about seeing the next generation rise up as leaders in the church. He and his wife Mette got married in the nation of Denmark, her country. They have three kids, Ruben, Edwin, and Lydia . Furby is a huge fan of his wife, his son Ruben's red hair, Junior Mints, and Bruce Lee.

  • Speaker: Adam Weatherby

    Adam serves as Pastor of Student Ministries at Atascadero Bible Church, and is a gifted and passionate teacher. Adam earned a B.A. in Church Leadership from Bethany College and obtained a M.A. in Religion from Liberty Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Brenda, married in 1996 and have two children, Conner and Dana. Adam enjoys music, outdoor activities, and being with people. His favorite Scripture passage is Job 38-40.

  • Speaker: Chris Nicely

    Chris is the Lead Pastor of Legacy Minded Church, a new church plant in the city of Burbank, California. He is passionate about the Gospel and telling the Story of Jesus to the city that tells stories. He is supported and spoiled by his beautiful wife, Rebecca. They have two beautiful children, Eden and Josiah. A random fun fact about Chris- while growing up his nickname was 'BoBo' but don't tell anyone it is our little secret!

  • Speaker: Mike Smith

    Mike is currently the Pastor of Junior High and College ministry at Atascadero Bible Church. His youth ministry experience began in 1997. Mike's unique gifting has placed him at ABC to do Junior High and College Ministry. Mike is a gifted and passionate communicator, able to speak effectively to children through adults. He is committed to Biblical teaching and loves ministry to students.

2014 Registration Details

Registration Opening Day: October 15th, 2013

Meadow Ranch is designed for campers grades 6-8.
All prices include meals, lodging, program materials and a recreation t-shirt. Some extra activities are available at additional cost or deposit (high ropes and paintball for example).

Group Registration

Campers: $480
Counselors: $219

No minimum group size required. Counselor to Camper ratio of 1 to 8 is requested per gender.

Individual Registration

Camper: $540

Individual campers will be assigned to a group generally with other individuals with a Hume-provided counselor.


Deposit due dates:

  • $25/spot initial desposit
  • $50/spot due Friday, January 31st
  • $75/spot due Monday, April 21st
  • Final group registration balance due at arrival to camp
  • Final individual registration balance due 1 month prior to camp


What to bring

Bible, notebook, pencil, flashlight, sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, warm and cool clothes, jacket, modest one-piece swimsuit (no tankinis), a towel for swimming and showering, $60 recommended spending money.

(Remember: Girls no bare midriffs or spaghetti straps; guys, no sagging.)

What not to bring

Drugs (unless prescribed by a doctor), alcohol, tobacco, fireworks, firearms, electronic devices.


Camp begins with registration at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and concludes at 9:00 a.m. the following Saturday. Dinner on the first night is served at 5:30 p.m.
